Instrument Currency and
IFR Proficiency

Keep your instrument currency up to date on your schedule. Log approaches and holds in our FAA-approved simulator, in any weather.

For Instrument Pilots

Stay Sharp Without the Aircraft

An instrument rating is only useful when you're current and comfortable in the system. Our Flight Training Center is built for licensed pilots too, so you can book a simulator session, log the approaches, holds and course tracking you need, and get back to flying.

Sessions run in our FAA-approved SG-2 simulator, with or without an instructor as your situation requires. We can set the weather, fail an instrument or load the approach you fly most, and a gray, low-ceiling morning never takes your session away.

  • Simulator currency: Log approaches, holds and course intercepts in our FAA-approved SG-2.

  • Realistic practice: Fly in the weather you choose, with instrument failures when you want a harder session.

  • Your schedule: Book sessions around work, travel and the forecast.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I log instrument currency in your simulator?
Yes. Our SG-2 is an FAA-approved simulator, so you can log the approaches, holds and course tracking you need for instrument currency, with or without an instructor as your situation requires. Bring your logbook and we'll help you record the session.
Do I need an instructor with me?
You can fly a currency session with or without an instructor, and we'll talk through which fits your situation before you book. If you're working toward an IPC, you'll fly with one of our instrument instructors.
What if my currency has lapsed?
It's fixable. Depending on how long it has been, you may only need to log the required tasks, or you may need an Instrument Proficiency Check. The calculator on this page gives you a quick read, and our IPC Accelerator covers the IPC route.
Will bad weather cancel my session?
We don't cancel lessons. Simulator sessions run in any weather, so a gray, low-ceiling day never takes your session away.
Can I practice the approaches at my home airport?
Usually, yes. We can load the approaches you fly most, so your practice matches the trips you actually make.
